Catching Cabin Fever
Both Michigan natives, Jason and Lynn met at Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan but found their way to the Pacific Northwest to build their careers. When the opportunity came to return home, they couldn’t pass it up. With one renovation under their belts, they had their eye on a property with 13 rundown structures and 27 acres of land with majestic coves and a rocky Superior beach. Prior to the pandemic, their plans were to start fresh (pun intended) and level all of the existing structures to build four or five new cabins. But as was the case for many businesses, COVID-19 dramatically changed their plans and they decided to renovate the existing 13 cabins instead.
And it’s a good thing they did. Guests loved the updates the couple are making. They currently have nine cabins available for rent with more coming in 2022. “We’re a boutique resort with a huge attention to detail. Our guests love that,” said Lynn. “Everything down to the nice linens and welcome baskets, the details are intended to show our visitors that we care deeply about them. We’re a remote destination without modern luxuries like cell phone service so it’s important that we provide a level of hospitality, cleanliness and outdoor experiences that are unmatched.”
